According to Abbey–The First Day of School

The first day of school.  The day almost every kid looks forward toward.

To me, the first day of school really starts the day before when everyone starts running around making sure they have all their school supplies, going through their closet thousands of times picking out the perfect outfit and deciding on the perfect hairstyle hoping to make the best impression.

Then comes the actual day and everyone is buzzing with excitement.  For me, the first day of school is a lot of fun.  Catching up with friends, obsessing over how cute everyone’s outfits look, finding out who is in what class, finding out who the new kids are, and scoping out the cute boys (I’m kidding, mostly :-D).  It’s all part of the first day of school.

It’s also the day that everyone makes the same promise to themselves. The unkeepable promises of “This year is going to be different” and “No more drama this year”.   But by the time second quarter comes around, those promises are long forgotten.

I don’t really think that the first day of school ends until the second week of school.  That’s when you actually start some work. The first week is just teachers talking and talking and talking about stuff that everyone already knows and have heard about every year since like third grade.

Everyone thinks that the first day is so much more, but when it comes down to it that’s really all it is, yet everyone, including me, finds it so much fun.

Wonder why?
